Brian Christopher Hardison recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Washington having earned a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in English. The recipient of several university and department research awards and scholarships, Brian presented his paper “The Arrival of the Saxons: An Examination of the aduentus Saxonum Traditions” at the Twenty-Sixth Annual National Undergraduate Literature Conference at Weber State University in March of 2011. Additionally, Brian participated in the Twelfth Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium at the University of Washington in May of the same year where he gave a talk titled “Contexts of Colonization: The Literary-Historical Treatment of the Anglo-Saxon Settlement.” His first article, “Coding Gender: Performance and Gender Identity in a Synthetic World” was published in the Winter 2012 issue of intersections. At present, Brian is working to complete his second article, “Seventh Century Glossae Collectae from the School of Theodore and Hadrian.” Brian has recently accepted an a offer to begin reading for an M.Phil in Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic at the University of Cambridge this fall.
